U.S. Citizen Services
The Embassy Consular Section provides emergency assistance in the event of the arrest, destitution, illness, or death of an American citizen in Namibia. The Consular Section also issues U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad to American Citizens, and can add extra pages to a valid U.S. passport that is full. The Consular Section maintains information on Federal and State primary and general elections, as well as voting registration materials. When necessary, a consular officer may perform notarial services for U.S. citizens or for documents to be used in the U.S. Among other non-emergency services, we can provide a list of local attorneys, a list of medical practitioners, information on travel conditions in foreign countries, as well as information on receiving federal benefits.
On-Line Registration
The State Department recently launched a secure online travel registration website which allows you, as an American citizen, to record foreign trip and residence information that the Department of State can use to communicate with you and assist you in case of an emergency. Registration also allows the Embassy to more easily reach you in times of civil unrest, natural disaster, or any situation that may require the evacuation of American citizens from Namibia. The information you provide in the registration form also allows us to more easily issue a replacement US passport to you in the event your passport is lost or stolen.
U.S. citizens around the world who travel or reside abroad can register at this site through the above link. We invite you to register yourself and your family and get acquainted with travel registration. If you are already registered with this Embassy, please re-register on line to update your records.
The new Internet travel registration service for American citizens allows you to register and update your contact information on the Internet at any time, making it easier for you to keep your information current. This site http://www.travel.state.gov/ also provides you with up-to-date travel information customized to your unique travel agenda and itinerary. The data you provide is secured behind Department of State firewalls, accessed only by cleared personnel in Embassies, Consulates, and the Department of State, and releasable only under the provisions of the Privacy Act.
Let us know how you like the new site. If you encounter any difficulties or have any questions about our travel registration website, please send an e-mail to CAIbrs@state.gov.
